Car Insurance

Car insurance is mandatory in every state because it provides financial protection against the bodily and physical, vehicle damage that results from traffic collisions. Every state and country has its specific regulations, but there is usually a minimum legal insurance requirement that needs to be met in order for a driver to be allowed on public roads. In the United States, car insurance can cover some or all of the following aspects:

- third party,
- third party, fire and theft,
- the insured party in the form of medical payments (within a specified limit),
- physical damage for the insured vehicle.

The terms and conditions in the various policies differ a lot, and the vehicle owner may choose various forms to cover against each of the above. This means that you don't have to get full coverage in one policy, and you may be separately insured against accident damage and against theft and fire damage.

The car insurance premiums are the indicators that actually reflect the complexity of the coverage because they are proportionate with the amount of benefits deriving from the policy. Yet, you have to keep in mind that not all the quotes you get from various insurance companies correspond to the real quote. This is also the reason why consumers are encouraged to shop around and compare between the offers available with various companies. Once you understand the pros and cons as well as the number of benefits you get for your money, it becomes easier to negotiate.

Negotiations can be really successful when you have a good credit report, when you can use the no claims bonus and when you belong to a category of drivers that pose little risks on the road. This is the case with women and experienced drivers over fifty. Car insurance tends to be more expensive for people with no credit report, for those who've been issued tickets or who've been involved in accidents. Young drivers are also likely to pay more in car insurance premiums, yet, after the age of 25, rates drop to a normal level.

Women are another privileged category of drivers who get low rates on car insurance. Statistic reports have confirmed the idea that women are more cautious when driving, and they get involved in accidents less often than men. For a man, it is possible to make a good deal on car insurance by becoming the designated additional driver on a woman driver's policy. Or if the man is the policy holder, he can include a female additional driver to reduce the premiums.
